The American Arbitration Association (AAA), a global leader in alternative dispute resolution, seeks an accomplished Chief Marketing Officer to lead our marketing and communications initiatives for the AAA and its international division, the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR). This executive role offers a unique opportunity to drive strategic growth and innovation in the evolving landscape of dispute resolution services.

Location: New York City preferred when working on-site

 

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies, focusing on rebranding, digital transformation, and market expansion. As a key executive team member, the CMO will be instrumental in elevating the AAA’s brand, enhancing our technological offerings, and fostering partnerships within the legal and business communities.

 

This position requires a strategic visionary with a proven track record of success in senior marketing roles, preferably within the legal or professional services sector. The selected candidate will be responsible for aligning marketing efforts with AAA’s mission, driving business development, and positioning the organization at the forefront of innovation in dispute resolution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Marketing Leadership

  • Develop and execute a strategic marketing plan aligned with AAA’s strategy, mission, and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and communicate AAA’s value proposition.
  • Collaborate with the product development team to ensure new offerings align with market needs and AAA’s brand positioning.
  • Engage with the business development team to create marketing strategies that support business development objectives.
  • Present marketing strategies, results, and insights to the executive team and board of directors.

Branding and Rebranding Initiatives

  • Lead and execute comprehensive rebranding efforts and initiatives to strengthen AAA’s reputation and enhance the AAA’s technological advancements and new service offerings.
  • Develop and implement a rebranding strategy that aligns with AAA’s evolving mission and market position.
  • Oversee the creation of new brand assets, including logo, visual identity, and brand guidelines.
  • Coordinate with all departments to ensure consistent implementation of the new brand across the organization.
  • Manage internal communications to foster employee buy-in and adoption of the new brand.
  • Plan and execute the public launch of the rebranded AAA, including media relations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor and measure the impact of rebranding efforts on brand perception, recognition, and business outcomes.

Digital Marketing and Technological Integration

  • Oversee digital marketing initiatives, including website optimization, social media presence, and content marketing.
  • Lead marketing efforts for new products and services, focusing on technology-driven solutions.
  • In collaboration with the Go To Market team, develop go-to-market strategies for AAA’s AI-enhanced dispute resolution services.
  • Create educational marketing campaigns to introduce clients to innovative dispute resolution technologies.
  • Identify and capitalize on emerging trends in legal tech and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Oversee the creation of thought leadership content highlighting AAA’s expertise in technology-driven dispute resolution.
  • Design and implement marketing strategies to differentiate AAA’s tech-enabled services from traditional dispute resolution methods.
  • Partner with the IT department to align marketing technology needs with overall IT strategy and capabilities.

Team Leadership and Management

  • Manage, lead, and mentor the marketing and communications team and foster a high-performance team culture.
  • Lead and mentor the marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.
  • Cultivate strong collaborative relationships with leaders and teams across the organization.

Stakeholder and External Relations

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including law firms, corporations, and industry associations.
  • Work with AAA executives to develop partnerships with tech companies and legal innovators to enhance AAA’s service offerings.

Budget and Performance Management

  • Manage marketing budget and evaluate the ROI of marketing initiatives.
  • Analyze marketing metrics and adjust strategies to optimize performance.
  • Regularly review vendor performance and conduct formal evaluations to ensure alignment with AAA’s goals and standards.

Content and Material Development

Oversee the creation of marketing materials, including presentations, brochures, and annual reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field; MBA, law degree, or a related advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, with at least five years in a senior leadership role
  • Strong understanding of marketing strategies, preferably in the legal or professional services sector
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation abilities
  • Experience with digital marketing tools and technologies
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 10%)
