Job Description
As USAC continues to support universal service impacting health care providers, educators, and consumers, it is critical now more than ever that we hire people equally passionate and committed to helping fulfill our mission. We are currently seeking an experienced, dynamic and collaborative professional to serve as a Content Writer for the Shared Services team.
The Content Writer ensures that USAC’s written and digital communications are clearly and concisely written, reflecting the organization’s voice, style and brand standards. The individual in this role will be responsible for drafting and editing effective communication outreach materials for USAC’s target audiences.
Responsibilities
- Plan, edit and write content for a variety of communications mediums, such as web, monthly magazine or regular email bulletin. You may also be required to work on the layout of content.
- Collaborate with USAC teams to support the development and editing of clear, concise stakeholder communications.
- Review USAC internal and external written communications including memos, emails and online content to ensure they reflect USAC brand standards.
- Copy and/or edit written materials efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure communications messages are consistent across all mediums.
- Self-manage projects in terms of identifying needs, developing project plans, holding stakeholders accountable, communicating effectively across project stakeholders, and coordinating content.
- Work collaboratively across all levels of the business, from executive leaders to non-management employees, to gather information, analyze it and create messages, articles, stories, white papers, etc.

Education, Experience, And Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or relevant technical training and certifications.
- Three (3) to Four (4) years of directly related experience.
- One (1) to Two (2) years of experience with IT systems and components.
- Two (2) years of editing, writing, marketing or communications experience.
- Effective written communication skills and experience developing content for diverse audiences.
- Excellent critical thinking skills as well as the ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and integrity.
- Experience editing material for a variety of mediums including online content, memos, emails, and internal documents.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships.
- Excellent analytical and proven problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate, influence and drive for results at all levels of the organization.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work with a sense of urgency to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio) and Prezi.
- Familiarity with public relations strategies and brand development and standards.
