As a Content Marketing Manager, you’ll set the content marketing strategy to drive interest in our brand and our products. Collaborating closely with various stakeholders across Marketing as well as Customer Experience, Product, and Partnerships teams, you will serve as the content ideation engine providing focus to our team of writers, supporting our blog, and fulfilling copy needs throughout the marketing funnel. You will also be responsible for working with design to uplevel our website experience through content and assets.

 

You operate from a customer-centric mentality, anticipating the types of content that will resonate with our various audiences. You are able to turn vision into action, transforming our blog into a content library and elevating how people interact with SB content. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about the impact and influence content in various forms can have on a small business owner, has an understanding of the insurance industry or small business segment and has managed previously.

 

You have launched a website or are familiar with content delivery tools. You are organized, thrive in structure and can solve problems with grace. You also have experience identifying high value behaviors and trackable metrics to help connect the dots to overall business results. As a Content Marketing Manager, you will:

  • Drive the content strategy, ideation and execution for Simply Business across our website as well as other key owned channels, including, but not limited to social media, YouTube, email, partnerships and paid sponsorships.
  • Generate awareness and interest in Simply Business through compelling content customized by audience and moment in their buying experience, attaching key metrics and expectations for various strategies and executions
  • Reimagine the content on our marketing website assets (blog, product pages, landing pages, video, interactive assets) working with design, technology and engineering teams to bring it to life
  • Develop and maintain an editorial calendar for new content creation and evergreen content “refreshes”, working with project management with an eye on work flow, bandwidth and talent utilization
  • Manage a team of copywriters, who reside both internally and externally, serving as chief editor for all content
  • Gather competitive and market insights that can shed light on customer needs and inform new areas of opportunity
  • Translate complex insurance concepts into clear, concise, jargon-free language that is accessible to all types of small business audiences

What we are looking for:

  • Five or more years of copywriting and/or content marketing experience in the technology and/or P&C insurance industry or with an agency.
  • Demonstrated success of content strategy development and implementation across multiple channels, including social media and content distribution networks
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills; ability to distill complex concepts into language that is understandable and compelling to business decision makers
  • Comfortable working within a CMS and project management tools such as Monday.com or Trello
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse cross-functional teams including senior managers, sales, product management, technology, insurance product, marketing operations, and more
  • Driven, self-motivated and self-directed; comfortable leading and working with teams, but also independently to complete projects with business objectives in mind
  • Able to thrive in environments with a certain amount of ambiguity and that evolve rapidly in response to a changing external environment, willing to take logic-driven risks to innovate
