Vermont State University (VTSU) is seeking a dynamic and creative Communications Content Manager to join our Marketing and Communications department. This role is pivotal in enhancing our brand presence through compelling video content, strategic social media management, impactful storytelling, and creative graphic design. VTSU Marketing & Communications department serves 5 campus locations across Vermont: Castleton, Johnson, Lyndon, Randolph, and Williston, as well as virtual learning programs. This position will require regular travel to all 5 campus locations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive Creative Content Strategy aligned with VTSU’s strategic priorities, including systems for prioritizing communications and marketing needs, identifying compelling stories, developing and editing content, and disseminating final products across key channels in order to deliver the right content to the right audience, at the right time to drive engagement and outcomes.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to script, storyboard, and plan video shoots that create engaging stories highlighting university events, achievements, student life, and campus culture.
- Maintain content archives using Digital Asset Management best practices.
- Collaborate with Social Media Manager to develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to increase brand awareness, engagement, and drive enrollment.
- Conduct interviews and capture b-roll footage on campuses and at university events.
- Manage and monitor social media channels, creating and curating content that resonates with our audience.
- Analyze social media metrics to optimize content and strategy.
- Craft compelling and persuasive marketing copy for marketing campaigns, newsletters, press releases, and the university website.
- Develop and maintain a consistent brand voice across all written communications.
- Collaborate with the PR team to manage media relations and outreach.
- Work with the Senior Graphic Designer to help create visually appealing graphics for digital and print media, including social media posts, brochures, flyers, and advertisements.
- Ensure all designs align with the university’s brand guidelines and visual identity.
- Assist with hiring, training, supervising, and mentoring interns, and student workers.
- Support Communications Director with project management and administrative projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Direct supervision is received from the Director of Communications.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
General supervision over interns and student workers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 2+ years of proven experience in communications, public relations, video production, creative storytelling, social media management, marketing, and/or graphic design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education marketing.
- Knowledge of SEO and digital marketing best practices.
- Experience in media and public relations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, etc.), Final Cut Pro, Canva, or similar.
- Proficiency in all social media platforms, including Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok
- Experience with shooting video using professional cameras, smartphones, and other video equipment.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to travel to all 5 VTSU campuses.
- Demonstrated positive attitude regarding Vermont State University and a desire to improve student outcomes, including attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Demonstrated ability to support a diverse community and promote diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
LOCATION
This position is hybrid and can be based at any of Vermont State University’s 5 campus locations across Vermont, with regular travel to all VTSU campus locations as needed.
