The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for driving brand identity, strategy, positioning, messaging, and competitive differentiation, as well as leading sales enablement efforts and collaborating on marketing activities for the Chief brand. This role plays an integral part in developing the strategy for product roadmap, designing and conducting Voice of Customer (VOC) and market research, and executing product launches. The product marketing manager acts as the glue between our Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Digital Experience, and Training teams, thriving in a fast-paced environment where cross-team collaboration is essential for success.

The Product Marketing Manager is deeply invested in understanding our customers, markets, applications, and competitors, using strategic insights and market data to drive the development of positioning and messaging that resonates with buyers. This helps empower our sales channels to be successful.

In collaboration with the marketing team, the manager will develop content, tools, and collateral that drive demand. As a brand evangelist, the Product Marketing Manager has the ability to clearly present our product’s value proposition in a way that resonates with customers and clearly articulates how we solve their problems.

Duties And Accountabilities

Manage, Strategize, and Collaborate on Product Roadmap

  • Conduct Market Research & VOC Activities: Collaborate with the Product Management team to build a strategic roadmap for the Chief brand, leveraging market research and Voice of Customer (VOC) insights.
  • Analyze Market Opportunities: Assess market opportunities and contribute to building the business case for new product development.
  • Identify Trends & Derive Insights: Monitor industry trends, extract key insights, and provide actionable recommendations to guide product and marketing strategies.
  • Develop Value Propositions & Positioning: Create compelling product value propositions, positioning statements, and narratives that resonate with target markets and buyer personas.
  • Create Marketing Plans: Develop comprehensive marketing plans for supported products, working closely with marketing communications and channel marketing teams to define key activities and budgets aimed at retaining existing customers and acquiring new ones.
  • Develop External Content & Tools: Collaborate with marketing communications to produce external-facing content, including thought leadership pieces, webinars, sales presentations, videos, collateral, case studies, white papers, and ROI models across all funnel stages, partnering with top creative teams.
  • Manage Product Web Content: Oversee product-related web content for the Chief brand, providing insights and feedback to improve digital tools and user experience.
  • Support Events Strategy: Work with the Events team to develop and execute product strategy at trade shows, ensuring alignment with broader marketing goals.
  • Serve as Brand Spokesperson: Represent the Chief brand by translating product features and benefits into impactful messaging that resonates with audiences through customer interactions, live events, presentations, media interviews, and more.
  • Monitor Competitor Trends: Track competitor activities and market trends, developing messaging strategies to differentiate Legrand | AV brands from key competitors.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with cross-functional marketing, product, and digital experience teams to drive business and product marketing strategies, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all channels and mediums. Measure performance against objectives and report results.
  • Engage with Global Partners & Customers: Directly engage with key partners and customers globally to enhance market share, increase brand awareness, and drive business growth.
  • Process Development & Improvement: Initiate and support the creation, development, and implementation of efficient processes and procedures to streamline operations.

Enable the Sales Team

  • Serve as Primary Point of Contact: Act as the central point of contact for sales teams, providing front-line support and expertise on product features, positioning, and the sales enablement tools needed for success.
  • Develop Sales Tools & Content: Create clear, compelling internal content and sales tools, such as sales training materials, competitive positioning documents, FAQs, and cheat sheets, to support sales teams throughout the entire sales cycle.
  • Collaborate with Sales Teams: Partner with the brand sales organization to inspire, motivate, and guide them in securing flagship brands, while generating impactful customer success stories.
  • Develop Training Materials: Assist in the creation of training materials for distribution and sales teams, focusing on core product strengths and the unique benefits that differentiate our products for end users.
  • Manage Product Lifecycle Communications: Oversee communications related to the product lifecycle, including updates on pricing changes and product obsolescence.

Job Requirements

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to analyze large volumes of data to extract key insights into market trends and opportunities.
  • Skilled at translating market trends, tools, and intelligence into actionable strategies and recommendations.
  • Experience in conducting Voice of Customer (VOC) research and market analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Sound understanding of marketing tools and methodologies.
  • Strong storytelling skills with ability to understand, digest, and articulate complex concepts for mass consumption via engaging content.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and consensus-building skills – ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to develop journalistic subject matter expertise that aligns with core coverage topics.
  • Project management – Must be comfortable handling multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously and have the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, written & presentation communication skills.
  • Strong listening skills with the ability to translate concepts into deliverables.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to build solid customer relationships; demonstrated ability to be customer focused and responsive to questions and needs in a deadline driven environment.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgement that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
  • Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information

Minimum Education And Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, engineering or related technical degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in product marketing; or combination of relevant education and experience.

Special Job Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in using CRM tools, Salesforce.com, SAP, etc.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with and passion for innovative activities and mindsets such as Design Thinking.
  • Familiarity with Agile projects/methodology.
  • Previous work experience in areas relevant to the assigned technology.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will periodically be required to stand for the majority of the working day at trade shows. As required for trade show set-up, the employee must be able to reach above shoulder level, reach below knee level, bend, stoop, squat/kneel, climb; and lift, push or pull 25 lbs. Also required to make coordinated movements of the fingers for using a keyboard.

  • Long-distance or air travel as needed – not to exceed 20% travel
