Job Overview

The Retention Marketing Assistant is a member of the Retention Marketing Team which drives growth and optimizes customer lifetime value through owned media. This team manages the customer contact strategy, lifecycle, and end-to-end campaign execution across all retention channels—Email, Mobile, Direct Mail, and POS.


The Assistant oversees end-to-end execution and delivery for Mobile communications, including promotional, editorial, and loyalty content. They manage the production workflow for all Retention Marketing tactics, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, manage partner relationships, and support Macy’s omni-channel initiatives.

What You Will Do

  • Support daily operations for Macy’s Mobile production, including managing calendar functions, reviewing and delivering assets, assembling content, previewing, testing, and executing campaigns.
  • Help oversee channel growth and maintain agility across Mobile channels.
  • Develop expertise across multiple tactics (e.g., SMS, Push Notifications, Site Personalization campaigns) to serve as a subject matter expert and backup for the team.
  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities for late Mobile changes and campaign executions, collaborating with relevant teams to ensure campaigns are built and executed accurately and on time.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Retention Marketing Mobile tactics, working closely with the dedicated Mobile QA team.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and communicating Mobile content issues with internal support teams.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams (e.g., Communication Strategy, CRM, Marketing Strategy, Project Management, Creative, Content Engineering, and Quality Engineering) to drive collaboration and implement changes seamlessly.
  • Support strategies to enhance Mobile communication execution and messaging, incorporating personalization, dynamic content, and other technical advancements.
  • Demonstrate regular, dependable attendance, responsiveness, and punctuality.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Skills You Will Need

Marketing Operations Knowledge: Familiarity with Mobile and email marketing tactics, Internet marketing, and direct marketing methods.

Workflow and Project Management: Strong organizational and prioritization skills to efficiently manage the end-to-end production workflow for Mobile communications and coordinate across various teams to meet campaign deadlines.

Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills for building and maintaining relationships with cross-functional teams (e.g., Communication Strategy, CRM, Marketing Strategy, Project Management) and acting as a primary contact for Mobile tactics.

Quality Assurance and Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and a strong focus on quality assurance to ensure accuracy in campaign execution, testing, and final delivery.

Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database applications, with a strong aptitude for technology and ability to troubleshoot technical issues with Mobile content.

Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Ability to adapt quickly to late changes or workflow issues, with proven analytical and problem-solving skills to manage unexpected challenges and escalate issues when necessary.

Self-Motivation and Independence: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, displaying a proactive, self-starter attitude.

Strategic Thinking and Data Analysis: Proven skills in strategic thinking, data interpretation, financial analysis, and problem-solving to contribute to the ongoing improvement of Mobile communications and messaging strategies.

Attention to Process Improvement: An ability to identify areas of opportunity within workflows, make recommendations, and support the team in implementing change.
