The Role

As a Gaming Community Manager & Strategist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how gamers experience and connect with AMD. You’ll lead and grow our player community across Discord, forums, and social platforms creating vibrant, engaging spaces where customers become long-term fans and advocates.


Working closely with social, marketing, product, and influencer teams, you’ll design and execute community programs that amplify launches, deepen player relationships, and elevate AMD’s presence in gaming culture. This is a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment where creativity, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of gamers come together to build meaningful, high-energy community experiences.

You are highly communicative, adaptable in tone, and comfortable engaging with players, moderators, and internal partners alike. You bring a strategic mindset balanced with hands-on execution, and you know how to foster inclusive, fun, and safe spaces while empowering others to do the same.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day community operations across Discord, forums, and social channels, fostering an inclusive and engaging environment for gamers.
  • Design and execute community engagement programs such as AMAs, tournaments, watch parties, feature spotlights, and recurring community rituals.
  • Develop platform-specific content tailored to gaming audiences, including Discord announcements, forum posts, short-form social content, and partner activations.
  • Track community sentiment and insights to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with social, marketing, product, and influencer teams to support launches, campaigns, and community-driven initiatives.
  • Manage and coach community moderators, ensuring consistent guideline enforcement, smooth escalations, and a safe community experience.
  • Optimize community platforms by improving Discord channel structures, roles, bots, permissions, and forum organization to enhance usability and engagement.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing gaming communities across Discord, forums, and social media platforms.
  • Strong understanding of gaming culture, online community dynamics, and player behavior.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling engagement programs that drive loyalty and advocacy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt tone for gaming audiences. Familiarity with moderation workflows, Discord bots and integrations, and community management tools.

Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field preferred.
