We are seeking a motivated, creative individual to maintain and grow a social media community for the Institute for Disability Research, Policy and Practice at USU. The successful candidate will increase the awareness of the IDRPP in that state of Utah and nationally.
This position requires a thorough knowledge of social media networks, applications, and trends. It also requires a solid understanding of digital analytics to help drive strategy and measure success. The successful candidate will craft and implement multimedia social media posts to engage new audiences online, share information on the IDRPP website, create growth both in quantity and quality of followers, and to expand awareness, including the implementation of new innovative methods to promote and build a solid reputation for the IDRPP on social media networks.
The specialist should be knowledgeable about industry tools like scheduling services, photo and video editing software, use of stock photos, and ADA accessibility requirements for social and multimedia. The specialist should be able to analyze social media trends and data and provide quarterly status reports. This position requires the ability to work independently and also coordinate and communicate well with other team members.

Responsibilities
- Develop relevant content/topics to reach the target audience;
- Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, video and written) on all social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube, posting multiple times each week;
- Utilize paid advertising on various social media platforms within a defined budget and forward receipts for approval in a timely manner;
- Listen and respond to users in a “social” way while cultivating leads and followers;
- Assist with updating IDRPP website and blog as needed;
- Work with the Public Relations team at the IDRPP to strategize information dissemination and share content.
- Understand IDRPP operations and various projects. Communicate with project coordinators to best advance information and events.
- Coordinate with IDRPP partners and other university entities.
- Perform other duties as assigned and/or needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Instructional Technology, or Journalism, or an equivalent combination of education plus experience.
- Passion for digital media, storytelling, and community engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Study or experience in working in the human services, special education or support of people with disabilities and/or personal lived-experience with disabilities as an individual with disabilities or family-member.
- Competence with Adobe Creative Suite software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro etc.). Experience in Canva, DaVinci or similar software for developing original social media content quickly.
- Experience with creating accessible electronic materials. Document Accessibility training is required and will be provided by the IDRPP if necessary.
- Experience with USU Omni CMS system.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), page layout or design programs, content management systems, learning management systems, and databases.
- Good understanding of the English language; excellent written communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and proofreading.
- Competency in graphic, image, and video software.
- Ability to work effectively and to manage multiple tasks in a timely, effective, and detail-oriented manner.
- Effective organization and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain a positive friendly attitude with others and exhibits a strong sense of inclusion and innovation.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to high standards of excellence coupled with an enthusiastic approach to one’s work.
