DIRECTV is undergoing a significant transformation as we redefine our position in a rapidly evolving media and entertainment landscape. We are seeking a high-caliber Lead Product Marketing Strategist to operate at the center of this transformation—shaping growth strategy, building new acquisition programs, and driving high-impact initiatives from concept through execution.
This is not a traditional marketing role. It is an internal strategy and execution role designed for individuals who want to solve complex problems, build new capabilities, and directly influence business outcomes at scale. Working directly for the VP, Acquisition Strategy, you will work on the company’s most critical growth questions—connecting market insight to financial rigor to executable plans—and ensuring those plans translate into real results.
This role is best suited for someone with a top-tier consulting background and strong operator instincts who is motivated by ownership, thrives in ambiguity, and wants to build and see through initiatives in a large, evolving organization.
What You’ll Do
Drive Strategic Problem Solving in a Transforming Business
- Tackle DIRECTV’s most critical growth questions across acquisition, distribution, partnerships, and go-to-market strategy.
- Develop a deep understanding of the consumer, competitive, and subscription ecosystem, translating market complexity into clear strategic choices.
- Identify where we should play and how we win—grounded in data, not intuition.
Build and Pressure-Test Growth Opportunities
- Identify, size, and prioritize new acquisition programs and strategic initiatives with clear economic impact.
- Lead and/or partner on end-to-end business case development, including advanced Excel modeling to evaluate ROI, tradeoffs, and long-term value creation.
- Move beyond analysis—define what it takes to operationalize ideas and make them real.
Lead High-Impact, Cross-Functional Programs
- Act as the connective tissue across teams—aligning priorities, resolving ambiguity, and ensuring momentum on complex, multi-stakeholder efforts.
- Drive execution of mission-critical, cross-functional initiatives across sales, marketing, product, finance, analytics, and business development.
- Own outcomes, not just recommendations.
Drive Enterprise Clarity and Alignment
- Bring structure and visibility—connecting initiatives, identifying dependencies, and ensuring efforts ladder up to a coherent strategy.
- Partner closely with Acquisition Strategy leadership team to shape priorities, frame decisions, and maintain focus on highest-value opportunities.
- Develop clear, compelling executive narratives that drive alignment and action.
- Own Acquisition Strategy budget oversight working with team leads to ensure financial responsibility and cost effectiveness of efforts.
Translate Insight into Action at Scale
- Ensure insights turn into clear, actionable plans with defined owners, milestones, and success metrics.
- Continuously evaluate performance, refine strategies, and reallocate resources to maximize impact.
- Help build the operating muscle required to execute effectively in a transforming organization.
What You’ll Bring
- Exceptional problem-solving and structured thinking, with a bias toward action and outcomes.
- Partnership oriented attitude to foster collaboration in your everyday work.
- Someone who enjoys a challenge and brings positive energy with a sense of humor.
- Proven ability to operate and lead in ambiguous, fast-changing environments, particularly within large-scale organizations undergoing transformation.
- A builder mindset—you don’t just create slides, you create momentum and deliver results.
- Advanced quantitative and financial modeling skills (Excel), with the ability to independently build and pressure-test business cases.
- Experience in subscription-based, media/entertainment, telco, or adjacent industries strongly preferred.
- 1–3 years at a top-tier strategy consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG) strongly preferred; additional operating experience is a plus.
- Track record of driving cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to distill complexity into clear, executive-ready insights and plans.
