The Brand Strategist reports directly to the Strategy Director. The Brand Strategist’s job is to work with clients, lead workshops, and develop informed insights, generate strategic solutions, and articulate branding guidance in a variety of contexts.

 

Typical Activities:

  • Research and analyze competitor brands, industry, and marketing trends and use this research to provide insights and recommendations to clients
  • Present strategy work or lead group activities/workshops with clients
  • Write brand strategy guidelines, voice and tone style guides, naming presentations, mission statements, and more.
  • Plan and lead brand strategy, brand positioning, naming/tagline, and voice/tone workshops and presentations for clients
  • Collaborate with the design team to help translate strategic guidance to design concepts
  • Generate and refine brand and product names, taglines, and messaging
  • Develop messaging strategies for effective retail packaging
  • Vet naming and tagline lists by researching potential industry conflicts using Google and the USPTO database

Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience working in a related strategy or branding role
  • Curiosity, strategic thinking, and creativity
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (the ability to lead groups and present ideas)
  • Strong research and analysis skills
  • A strong understanding of branding and brand execution with a particular interest in the following industries: food and beverage, nonprofits, startups, B2B, and architecture
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to produce work in a variety of styles and contexts
  • A flexible mindset and willingness to adapt your ideas to the needs of clients and the applied values approach of Murmur’s strategy department
  • Self-sufficiency and responsibility in managing your time and projects effectively
  • The resilience to perform under pressure and deliver high-quality work when there are tight deadlines
