The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the residents of the City & County of Denver. DPL sees more than 4 million visitors every year across its 27 locations, serves Denver’s most vulnerable communities through outreach and mobile services, hosts thousands of programs a year and manages a collection of more than 1.4 million physical and digital materials. DPL is hiring a Digital Marketing Specialist to plan, build, and implement user centered digital marketing strategies and campaigns across multiple channels and platforms to support an end to end digital experience and engage customers and the greater community in library programs, services, collections, staffing, training, and overall communication.
- Administers website(s) and publishes content via Drupal CMS to support marketing campaigns and collaborate on technical optimizations by modifying HTML/CSS code.
- Develops and implements digital marketing strategies/campaigns to increase awareness of library services and offerings using organic search, paid advertising, social media, and other channels.
- Develops copywriting and content creation to support online marketing campaigns.
- Designs, builds, and maintains main social media presence while overseeing the management of location specific social media and reputation management platforms.
- Coordinates, produces, manages, and optimizes all multimedia content i.e. video.
- Recommends, develops, and/or modifies procedures, guidelines, standards, and policies to establish a systemwide digital content strategy including goals and objectives, content calendars, and what changes need to be made based on feedback gathered from internal and external stakeholders.
- Conducts comprehensive needs assessments by auditing and evaluating digital assets. Analyzes data, identifies actual and potential problem areas, trends, areas of imbalance, and related factors for continuous quality improvement
- Collaborates with web/UX team members to ensure that all digital assets operate in compliance with best practices and standards for accessibility (i.e. ADA, WCAG).
- Oversees internal content creators and curators for consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Provides programmatic and technical support to programs and departments in support of relevant grants, presentations, and meetings.
- Identifies and manages digital marketing contracts and vendors while liaising with DPL departments as well as other City agencies and stakeholders.
- Measures and reports performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assesses against goals (i.e. ROI, KPIs).
- Provide guidance and support to locations for content management direction Organize, manage, and upload videos to the brand’s YouTube channel as needed to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
This position currently reports to the Marketing Manager in support of the organization’s strategic brand work.

- Excellent persuasive writing skills and an efficient content creation process.

- Ability to prioritize and follow up on multiple tasks while meeting short deadlines.
- Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices sufficient to be able to assume budgetary responsibilities as needed.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Experience with navigating technology such as Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, virtual meeting platforms, online databases and related software programs.

- Bachelors’ degree in Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, or relevant area of expertise
- Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education such as technical training may also be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
- Four (4) years of professional/technical experience performing marketing functions including research and analysis, developing public announcements and publications, and developing marketing strategies.
- Demonstrable experience in digital marketing leading and managing SEO/SEM, CMS, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns, particularly within the industry.
- Previous work experience with extensive public contact serving diverse customers; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job described above.
- Solid knowledge of marketing analytics and ad serving tools (i.e.GA4).
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints.
- Written and verbal proficiency in a language other than English strongly preferred but not required.
