Role Description

 

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Director of Marketing at the Atlanta History Center. The Senior Director of Marketing will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies to promote the museum’s mission, exhibitions, programs, and events. The position requires a seasoned marketing professional with an understanding of the museum industry, a passion for history, and a creative approach to engaging diverse audiences.

 

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans aligned with the museum’s mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Continuously evaluate market trends, visitor demographics, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities.

Brand Management

  • Maintain and enhance the museum’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all marketing materials, digital platforms, and communications channels.

Digital Marketing

  • Oversee the museum’s digital marketing initiatives, including website management, email marketing, social media engagement, and online advertising.
  • Leverage data analytics to optimize digital marketing performance and drive visitor engagement.

Advertising and Promotion

  • Plan and execute advertising campaigns across various media channels, including print, radio, television, and digital platforms.
  • Negotiate media partnerships and sponsorships to maximize exposure and reach.

Visitor Experience

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the visitor experience through effective signage, wayfinding, and interpretive materials.
  • Solicit visitor feedback and incorporate insights to improve marketing strategies.

Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the marketing department budget, allocating resources effectively to achieve strategic objectives while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Team Leadership

  • Provide leadership and direction to the marketing team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Mentor staff members, facilitate professional development opportunities, and promote a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in marketing.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns that drive attendance, revenue, and brand awareness.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff members.
  • Demonstrated expertise in digital marketing, including SEP, SEM, social media, and email marketing.
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools, CRM systems, and project management software.
  • Strategic thinker who can analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Creative problem-solver with a passion for storytelling.
