The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and results-driven Assistant Brand Manager (ABM) to join our dynamic marketing team.
The ABM will play a crucial role in supporting the development and execution of brand strategies to drive growth, market share, and consumer loyalty. This individual will assist in managing the brand’s day-to-day operations, from market analysis and campaign execution to budget management and cross-functional project leadership. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong analytical mindset, a creative spark, and a “can-do” attitude.

This is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Office in Marysville, Ohio.

What You’ll Do

Brand Strategy & Planning:

  • Assist the team in developing annual brand plans, including setting objectives, strategies, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Community Engagement & Social Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of our social community strategy, building vibrant online communities across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, etc.) that foster authentic conversations and deepen brand loyalty.
  • Actively manage daily community interactions by responding to comments, messages, and consumer conversations in real time, always in a consistent brand voice.
  • Monitor social sentiment and trending conversations to identify engagement opportunities, mitigate potential issues, and elevate insights back to the brand team.
  • Track and analyze engagement, reach, sentiment, and community growth to continually optimize our approach.

Marketing Campaign Execution

  • Support the development and rollout of integrated marketing campaigns across social, digital, PR, in-store, and traditional channels.
  • Collaborate with agencies and internal teams to create channel-right content that resonates with brand focus audiences.

Market Analysis & Insights

  • Analyze market data, including sales figures, market share, consumer research, and competitor activity, to identify key trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Translate data into actionable insights to inform brand strategy and decision-making
  • Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior leadership

Product & Innovation

  • Collaborate with R&D, sales, and supply chain teams to support the product innovation pipeline, from concept development to launch execution. Assist in managing the product portfolio and lifecycle

Financial Management

  • Assist in managing the brand’s marketing budget, including tracking expenditures, processing invoices, and ensuring projects are delivered on budget. Contribute to forecasting and financial planning

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as a key point of contact for the brand, collaborating effectively with Sales, Finance, Operations, R&D, and other internal departments to ensure cohesive brand strategy alignment and execution

Agency & Vendor Management

  • Help manage relationships with external partners, including advertising agencies, media buyers, and research firms, to ensure they deliver high-quality work that is on-brand and on-strategy

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in brand marketing, product management, or a related field, preferably within the CPG, retail, or consumer-focused industry
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to dive deep into data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations
  • Creativity & Strategic Thinking: A blend of creative passion for brands and the ability to think critically and strategically about business challenges
  • Project Management: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling presentations and articulate complex ideas clearly
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across various functions and levels
  • Proactive & Results-Oriented: A self-starter with a high level of initiative, a strong sense of ownership, and a commitment to achieving results

Nice To Have (But Not Required)

  • MBA or Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience supporting national marketing campaigns and product launches.
  • Hands-on experience with digital marketing channels (social media, content marketing, SEO/SEM, email marketing).

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $99,700.00 – $117,300.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs. For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
