The College of Forestry is seeking a Digital Marketing Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The College of Forestry at Oregon State University is the leading forestry program in the United States, advancing impactful research and innovative solutions to humanity’s most pressing environmental and natural resource concerns. The college is seeking an experienced Digital Marketing Manager to lead the development and implementation of a digital marketing and content strategy that creates an online presence in line with its reputation as a global leader.
As a member of the college’s marketing and communications team, the Digital Marketing Manager will be responsible for:
- Developing and leading the implementation of a comprehensive digital marketing strategy that promotes and supports the College of Forestry’s research, teaching and outreach missions across its web, social media and e-news platforms.
- Leading the development and execution of the college’s website content strategy, including support of a comprehensive site redesign and ongoing maintenance.
- Contributing to the development of social media, web and e-news content and project managing student workers to concept, produce and edit high-performing social media assets.
- Serving as the college’s social media expert, keeping ahead of paid and organic social media marketing best practices.
- Regularly monitoring and reporting on web and digital performance metrics and optimizing plans to meet objectives.
To be successful in this role, the incumbent must:
- Have proven experience in developing and implementing integrated digital content marketing strategies across web, e-news and social media platforms.
- Be prepared to regularly report on digital performance KPIs and optimize strategies based on actual performance.
- Serve as the college’s digital expert and strategist, while also contributing to day-to-day execution of digital marketing plans, including content development as needed.
- Possess strong project management and collaboration skills.

25% INTEGRATED DIGITAL MARKETING PLANNING , PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING
- Develops and leads the execution of the college’s integrated digital marketing strategy across web, social and e-news platforms to balance the needs of multiple stakeholder audiences (e.g., students, faculty and staff, industry partners, donors, alumni).
- Routinely reviews internal digital marketing processes and refines as needed to support algorithm changes and evolving best practices.
- Project manages and collaborates with the CoF marketing team to facilitate digital marketing campaign launches, updates and optimizations.
- Leads digital marketing reporting and analytics, accessing native platform dashboards and internal reporting systems to regularly report on performance and optimize strategies as needed.
25% WEBSITE CONTENT & USER EXPERIENCE STRATEGY AND IMPLEMENTATION
- Supports the redesign and routine maintenance of the college website to ensure it meets modern accessibility, responsiveness and user experience standards.
- Manages the implementation of the college’s website content strategy, supporting stakeholder needs while taking into account web best practices.
- Manages regular web content updates, collaborating with the college’s IT team for back-end web development needs.
- Routinely tracks site health and SEO via Google Analytics, implementing necessary changes (including the recommendation of PPC / SEM tactics) to drive visibility and ensure seamless site navigability and performance.
25% SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION
- Leads the college’s organic social media strategy — managing the full scope of creating, reviewing, and publishing posts, tracking monthly editorial calendars, workflow and team collaboration.
- Oversees and refines community management processes to foster community, build engagement and take follower preferences into account when developing future content.
- Monitors social platforms and campaigns for issues; collaborates with the director of marketing and communications to resolve.
- Supports relationship with agency partners and vendors to manage paid social efforts.
15% DIGITAL CONTENT DEVELOPMENT & DELIVERY
- Leads the creation of all digital content, developing briefs and workflows to ensure the efficient development of engaging web, social media and e-news content.
- Collaborates across units and departments to build a content conduit that represents the college’s diverse focus areas and priorities.
- Coaches and directs student workers and other marcomms staff in the development of compelling visual content that adheres to social best practices.
- Oversees the timely delivery of digital content utilizing the platforms best suited to each content type (e.g., Meta Business Suite; Hootsuite; MailChimp).
- Contributes to content development as needed (photography/videography/copywriting).
10% PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND SERVICE
- Assists with team building, group facilitation, marketing and communications department project management and coordination, problem solving, and integration of work processes and products.
- Engages in educational or training activities, as needed, to ensure full range of duties are completed effectively.
- Participates in a minimum of one workshop/activity/training annually (as approved by supervisor) that enhances the commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion; provides supervisor with a short report on how new knowledge will be applied to day-to-day work.
- Participates in college events and activities.
- Supports other marketing and communications duties, as assigned and capacity allows.
- Serves on committees as time and interest permits.
What You Will Need
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, PR, communications, business or a field relevant to the duties outlined in the position description.
- Three years of digital marketing experience, including development, implementation, and management of digital marketing strategies.
- Experience managing paid and organic digital marketing efforts, including direct experience in digital advertising management platforms and tools including Google Ads/Analytics, Meta, LinkedIn, X, and emerging digital marketing tools and technologies.
- Experience managing web and e-newsletter content delivery systems such as Drupal, WordPress, MailChimp, or other relevant technologies.
- Project management experience, including demonstrated success and willingness to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion broadly and personally.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
What We Would Like You To Have
- Basic graphic design skills and the ability to use tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or equivalents.
- Experience with front-end web development, content and user experience strategies.
- Experience managing vendor and agency relationships.
- Experience with project management tools, such as Basecamp, Asana or others.
- A proven track record of creative and innovative work.
