Rowan University is seeking a dynamic and strategic communication and marketing leader for the Virtua Health College of Medicine & Life Sciences (VHC) in Stratford, New Jersey. This role is crucial to the growth and development of the partnership between Rowan University and Virtua Health System.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reporting Structure: Directly reporting to the Vice President for University Relations, the director will develop, execute, and lead marketing and communication strategies for the VHC, encompassing the Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, the Rita & Larry Salva School of Nursing & Health Professions, the School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences, Rowan Medicine, and various centers, institutes, and departments.

  • Communication Strategy: As the primary communication strategist and writer, collaborate with the VHC Communication & Marketing team and University Relations to develop strategic communication and advertising campaigns, speeches, press releases, stories, websites, social media postings, reports, and college-wide emails.

  • Marketing Performance: Oversee marketing performance and data analytics to ensure optimal positioning to reach key constituents and target audiences, including prospective students, faculty, researchers, donors, community leaders, and partner organizations.

Key Areas of Oversight and Responsibility Include:

  • Brand management, including communication, marketing planning, and vendor negotiations.
  • Media relations, responding to media inquiries, and pitching stories.
  • Budget management.
  • Staff development and recruitment.
  • Video production and photography.
  • Graphic design.
  • Special events, including local, regional, and national conferences.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a communication, editorial, or marketing role, preferably in higher education and/or academic medicine.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and computer literacy.
  • Superior writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of website content development, content strategy, and user experience design.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and analytics tools.
