Job Summary

The Director of Brand Marketing oversees the creation and execution of KSU’s brand strategy to shape public perception, strengthen awareness, and drive engagement. This role directs brand positioning, advertising, and marketing initiatives in alignment with university goals while ensuring consistency across all communication channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement KSU’s brand strategy aligned with mission, vision, and values

  • Maintain and evolve the university’s visual and verbal identity

  • Shape storytelling to engage students, faculty, alumni, donors, partners, and the public

  • Lead brand audits, research, and analytics to measure awareness and impact

  • Manage brand marketing campaigns across digital, print, social media, and traditional channels

  • Guide creative direction and messaging for clarity and consistency

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Enrollment, Advancement, Athletics, Academic Affairs) and external partners

  • Provide brand training and resources for faculty and staff

  • Hire, train, and lead a marketing team; oversee budget and vendor partnerships

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field

  • Eight (8) years of progressive experience in brand marketing

  • Supervisory/management experience

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher

  • Six+ years’ experience in higher education brand marketing

  • Expertise in rebranding, positioning, and refresh initiatives

  • Agency experience and familiarity with geofencing, CRM, and analytics tools

Skills & Abilities

  • Proven success leading brand strategy and integrated campaigns

  • Strong storytelling, visual identity, and audience segmentation skills

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, CRM systems, social media, analytics, and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to navigate a complex university environment and manage multiple projects
