Role Overview
The Head of Product Marketing will lead the development and execution of our product marketing strategy, driving market differentiation, product adoption, and revenue growth. You will manage and inspire a high-performing team, ensuring our product positioning and messaging resonate with key audiences in R&D and IT.
You will lead audience research to inform strategies and lead product launches, collaborating closely with the Strategy, Product, Sales, and Marketing teams to achieve our business objectives. The role will also involve leading the development of core enablement content and setting KPIs to measure and optimize the success of product marketing initiatives.
This position requires strong strategic thinking, exceptional communication (writing) skills, and proven leadership in B2B SaaS product marketing.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the overall product marketing strategy to align with company goals, driving market differentiation, product adoption, and revenue growth.
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing product marketing team, fostering a culture of curiosity, creativity, and accountability.
- Product Positioning & Messaging: Develop, deliver, and own product positioning/messaging that differentiates Benchling’s offerings and resonates with our core audiences.
- Customer Research & Analysis: Conduct customer research to deeply understand our core audiences across R&D (the science) and IT (the technology).
- Product Launch & Introduction: Develop and lead new product launches and feature releases, ensuring alignment across the Product, Strategy, Sales, and Marketing organizations, including pricing and packaging.
- Sales Enablement: Collaborate with Sales and Enablement to develop and deliver training, tools, and collateral that effectively communicate the value proposition of
- our products.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Strategy, Product, and Sales to translate product strategy and releases into impactful messaging.
- Performance Measurement: Set KPIs and metrics to measure the success of product marketing initiatives, using data-driven insights to optimize strategies and report on outcomes.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in product marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a B2B SaaS company.
- Leadership: Proven ability to build, manage, and bring joy to a product marketing team in a fast-paced, scrappy, growth-oriented environment.
- Writing Skills: Exceptional written communication skills, with a talent for simplifying the complex and crafting compelling product narratives.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights into decisions on how to invest the time of the product marketing team.
- Collaboration: Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with Product, Sales, Demand Generation, and other teams to drive cohesive marketing efforts.
- Market Research: Experience in conducting market research, customer interviews, and competitive analysis to inform product marketing strategies.
- GTM Expertise: Strong understanding of SaaS GTM and proven ability to build strategies to launch new products and grow adoption.
SALARY RANGE
Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay. The candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location. For this role the base salary range is: $222,000 to $333,000.
