Job Description

Reporting into the head of Business Banking Lifecycle Marketing, U.S. Bank is currently seeking an outstanding Lifecycle Email Marketing Manager to lead scalable and effective email marketing campaigns.


The Lifecycle Email Marketing Manager will be responsible for deepening relationships and driving engagement among U.S. Bank small business customers within the email channel. This individual will develop and implement an email marketing strategy that contributes to annual production goals while improving overall channel performance. The candidate should have a customer-first mindset as well as in-depth knowledge of email marketing tools and industry best practices.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Develop successful email campaigns that drive new product openings among existing customers – both new and tenured;
  • Create customer loyalty by identifying and implementing new lifecycle communications that drive engagement at meaningful customer milestones;
  • Partner with email execution team on implementing new capabilities and campaigns with a focus on personalization and journey creation;
  • Collaborate with creative and email execution partner(s) to develop email creative strategy that supports flexibility and drives high engagement;
  • Lead the creative process for email campaigns inclusive of developing creative briefs, providing creative direction to internal and external agency partners, and gaining alignment among internal stakeholders;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain alignment on business goals, develop email marketing plans to support priorities, and analyze performance;
  • Utilize existing insights and partner with internal teams on conducting new research to help inform messaging and channel strategy;
  • Rigorously test hypotheses and use data to drive decisions, including implementing the necessary analytical frameworks and reporting mechanisms to measure and drive success;
  • Regularly monitor email performance to ensure campaigns are outperforming established benchmarks;
  • Partner with web and content teams to optimize user journey, traffic and overall conversion rate;

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Six or more years of related experience in marketing and marketing strategy with proven ability to deliver results

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Advanced knowledge of email marketing channel and capabilities
  • Experience developing and executing results-focused email marketing campaigns
  • Experience using Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Consumer Data Platform and Adobe Journey Optimizer
  • Experience coding, developing, and deploying dynamic email campaigns using Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other comparable email platform(s)
  • Ability to translate channel results and customer insights into actionable email marketing plans
  • Advanced knowledge of assigned geographical area, competitive market, banking operations, and U.S. Bancorp’s products and services
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and team-building skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Agility in thinking and delivery, along with proven ability to take direction in support of company goals
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple projects and assignments that are completed on time
  • MBA or equivalent markers of high achievement

Location Expectations

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there’s an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
