The UW Bothell School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics at UW Bothell has an outstanding opportunity for a Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
Reporting directly to the associate director of marketing & communications, this position supports strategy, management and implementation of marketing and communications for the School of STEM. This position plays an important role in the overall strategy, tracking performance, amplifying news and opportunities, and is responsible for maintaining the STEM website, developing stories, coordinating social media, drafting newsletters, supporting special projects (e.g., annual reports, campaigns), and supporting internal and external communications and events.
This position will support and coordinate the School of STEM marketing and communications in close collaboration with the STEM associate director of marketing & communications and consultation with various school stakeholders to support consistent, cross-functional messaging that enhances the brand reputation of the School of STEM, while in alignment with UW Bothell’s overall brand. This involves being attentive to the school and university priorities, understanding of voice(s) and audiences in alignment with plan development and implementation. The marketing & communications coordinator will evaluate the effectiveness of communications across channels and marketing efforts and adjust strategy and tactics accordingly. Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail are essential.
The marketing & communications coordinator will be a champion of the School of STEM’s mission to provide equitable access to exceptional programs that integrate teaching and research to prepare our students to solve the problems and confront the challenges facing our communities, the region, the nation, and the world. This position plays an impactful role in supporting operational functions, enhancing the visibility of the school and its events, and fostering engagement. This role will contribute to and coordinate key aspects of the development, implementation, and evaluation of marketing and communications strategies aimed at increasing awareness and elevating the profile of the School of STEM within the UW Bothell community, across Washington, and beyond.
Position Responsibilities
Communication Channel Content Creation and Execution
- Manage website updates and blog posting, content development and serve as a content manager and WordPress Editor as outlined in the STEM website governance.
- Develop and coordinate school social media account posts (including graphic design and video content), editorial calendar/posting schedule, follow relevant policies and procedures, monitor engagement (e.g., comments, messages, tags) and respond quickly, and serve as primary publisher.
- Develop newsletters (e.g., The Quarterly Crossroads), update Marketo audiences, and distribute via email/blog and share in communication channels.
- Advise on strategy and develop written and visual content for external and internal audiences/channels, ensuring consistent messaging and promotion across communication channels.
Communication Strategy and Review
- Track analytics across channels and provide a quarterly report to the associate director of marketing & communications.
- Review performance of STEM channels to make data-driven decisions to guide content development and interaction.
- Strive to improve overall communication effectiveness, event engagement and innovative communication delivery. Research and anticipate market trends and be effective in facilitating and managing creative processes to achieve results in self and others.
- Maintain current awareness of school research and other activities (publications, presentations, grants, partnerships, etc.) to inform responsibilities.
Events and School Initiatives
- Serve is a primary publisher for the website calendar, Trumba, and student-focused campus events calendar on Gather.
- Develop communication plans and content for event promotion in collaboration with the associate director of marketing & communications, outlining target audience, key messages, communication channels, registration, creative required, timelines and executing deliverables.
- Support marketing strategy and plans and understand process to ensure back-up support for the associate director of marketing & communications.
- Represent the School of STEM on The Marcomm Network at UW Bothell and coordinate with the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications on marketing initiatives led by the UW Bothell Office of Marketing and Communications.
- Support other school initiatives (e.g., annual reports, campaigns) and duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, English, or related field. Equivalent appropriate experience may substitute for this requirement.
- Minimum of 1 year of directly related work experience, including responsibility for regular production of communications and publications.
- Demonstrated experience in the consistent development and delivery of communications and creative assets across multiple channels.

Conditions Of Employment
- This position works in a shared office space environment and may need to perform duties during the evening and/or weekend, including occasionally off-site activities in support of academic programs and school business.
- A hybrid work schedule may be permitted, after appropriate length of training

$58,008.00 annual
