The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for building and managing the Marketing and Communications (MarComm) team, leading all digital marketing initiatives from campaign ideation to execution, measurement and optimization and ensuring all digital efforts are integrated with relevant school functions to achieve school objectives.

Responsible for GSB Communications strategic planning and digital marketing strategies. Lead marketing and communications strategies and activities that raise awareness and strengthen the brand of the Grossman School of Business (GSB) on local, national, and international levels. Provide guidance and coordination for the school’s programs and centers to ensure alignment of messaging and brand within the school and with the university.

Source for and work closely with agencies/vendors to ensure the marketing objectives and strategies are clearly communicated and aligned. Oversee GSB marketing and communications budgets for the school’s programs and centers.

Serve as lead and oversee the creation, editing, and publishing of content in digital and print media, including advertising and collateral for internal and external audiences. Ensure an on-going, two-way exchange of timely information between GSB and UVM Strategic Communications through regular interactions; participate as an active member of a university-wide network of communications and marketing professionals.

Minimum Qualifications (or Equivalent Combination Of Education And Experience)

A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, digital media, or related field and six to ten years of experience in communications and/or marketing roles. Team Management experience with excellent leadership skills, a proven record of effective budget management, and in-depth knowledge of all marketing and communication channels (SEO, Social Media, Content, Print, PR, Email, and Display), digital tools and platforms.

Demonstrated professional competency in the following areas: writing/editing/storytelling, web publishing/social media desktop publishing, photography, and videography. Creative and persuasive written and oral communications skills with strong public speaking and presentation skills. Working knowledge of software applications used to support communication functions and experience working with website content management platforms. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.

Ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and adhere to established project deadlines. Attention to detail. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and fostering a collaborative multicultural environment.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience in higher education or other decentralized, complex organization.
