The Marketing Manager is the strategic engine and tactical expert behind all marketing, communications, and brand efforts at Auction of Washington Wines (AWW). This is a high-impact, hands-on role for an innovative thinker and skilled executor who thrives in dynamic environments and believes that creativity, data, and storytelling can drive real change.

As a one-person department, you’ll be equally at home writing compelling emails, directing a freelance graphic designer, negotiating a media partnership, running our social channels, and analyzing results to optimize the next campaign. You’ll oversee our PR firm, collaborate across departments, manage the marketing budget, and be a key voice in shaping how AWW tells its story to the world.

This role reports directly to the Executive Director.

About the Auction of Washington Wines

Auction of Washington Wines (AWW) is a nonprofit organization that serves as the philanthropic arm of Washington’s world-class wine industry. In order to bring attention to this industry, we create sparkling events that, in turn, raise funds for our community. Since 1988, we’ve raised more than $72 million for Seattle Children’s, WSU’s Viticulture & Enology Department, and other community partners.

We’re entering an exciting new chapter with fresh executive leadership, upcoming strategic planning, and a rebrand that will redefine how we engage our community. We’re thinking big about how we live our mission in the future.

The team currently works on a hybrid schedule with two days a week in our Seattle office. The Auction’s work is necessarily cyclical with July and August being the busiest for the full team. During that time of year, vacations are limited and more onsite days may be required. This position will require working occasional evenings and weekends.

We’re a small team with big ambitions. We care deeply about our mission and one another, and we bring creativity and adaptability to everything we do. We value initiative, transparency, collaboration—and of course, Washington wine.

About You

You’re a curious, collaborative self-starter with a sharp marketing mind and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude. You love trying new things, believe in the power of great storytelling, and feel energized by metrics. You thrive in small, nimble teams, and you love being the go-to person who makes things happen. You value flexibility, creativity, and integrity—and you like to have fun while doing serious work.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that drive ticket sales, donor engagement, and brand awareness
  • Lead all content creation—from marketing emails to gala invitations to social captions—with voice, clarity, and strategy
  • Manage the day-to-day relationship with our PR firm and freelance designers
  • Own and steward the AWW brand, including visual identity, tone, and messaging
  • Oversee and execute AWW’s social media presence and content calendar
  • Maintain and update the AWW website in WordPress
  • Track and analyze key metrics to evaluate performance and inform decisions
  • Identify and negotiate media partnerships, including sponsorship trade
  • Manage and advocate for the annual marketing budget
  • Create marketing toolkits and assets for wineries and partners
  • Shepherd and oversee all print projects from ideation through completion, working with internal stakeholders as well as designers and print vendors to ensure accuracy and excellence in the final product
  • Hire and direct event photographers; manage image library
  • Support all AWW events as on-site marketing lead

To Excel in this Role, You’ll Need

  • A spirit of curiosity and desire to contribute
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or related fields (Must be 21+)
  • Experience managing and executing content across platforms
  • Background in social media strategy and tools
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience managing a budget and external vendors
  • Comfort working independently and juggling multiple projects
  • High level of organization and attention to detail

It’s Also Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Washington wine, hospitality, or food & beverage
  • Experience managing external vendor partners
  • Understanding of the local, regional, and national press landscape, especially regarding events and/or food & beverage
  • Experience with WordPress, Campaign Monitor, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • A relevant degree in marketing or related field
