POSITION SUMMARY:

As the leader of the marketing team, you will be responsible for developing and executing the overall marketing strategy for the Marmon Railyard & Repair Services portfolio of companies. In this role, you will have direct oversight over the day-to-day activities of the marketing team. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, operations, innovation, human resources and business leadership, to create and implement comprehensive internal and external marketing plans that drive business growth to achieve company objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marketing strategy and a proven track record of success in developing and implementing innovative marketing campaigns. This is a newly created role reporting to the Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives and offers the chance for the chosen applicant to demonstrate proactivity and put your unique stamp on the job role and responsibilities. This is a remote role with a high level of team engagement via video conference with the expectation of interacting on-camera to drive team engagement. Priority will be given to candidates living in the Chicago or Houston areas. Periodic travel will be required for team meetings and training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute strategic marketing plans to drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, and revenue growth.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities, market trends, and customer insights.
  • Define target customer segments and develop targeted marketing campaigns to reach and engage with key audiences.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to calculate and then market the quantified value of products and services for Marmon Railyard & Repair Services.
  • Collaborate with product development and innovation team to align marketing strategies with product launches.
  • Ensure Marmon Rail brand consistency and standards across all marketing efforts. Develop on-brand messaging and positioning strategies to differentiate our companies from competitors.
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality marketing collateral, including website content (SEO/SEM), blog posts, case studies, videos, social media and more.
  • Provide oversight on proposal and presentation development in the pursuit of RFP’s/RFQ’s.
  • Track and analyze marketing performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives.
  • Develop and manage marketing budgets and allocate resources effectively to maximize market penetration and ROI.
  • Manage and mentor a team of marketing professionals, providing guidance, support and professional development while fostering a collaborative, respectful and results-driven culture.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, best practices, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field required, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ progressive experience in marketing roles with a focus on strategy development and execution.
  • Prior experience with an industrial services company advantageous with transportation (rail) preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Exceptional writing skills are essential for crafting clear, concise and persuasive content that effectively communicates the company’s solutions, capabilities, and value proposition.
  • Outstanding communication skills for collaboration with key internal stakeholders across multiple parts of the organization and as well as for presenting ideas, facilitating meetings, and conveying information.
  • Strong research skills and tenacity for gathering information, data and evidence to support organizational value, meet customer expectations and requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of proposal/presentation creation, graphic design, digital marketing, and other marketing collateral
  • Willing to enhance technical knowledge of our industry through ground level observation of operations.
  • Able to work effectively in cross-functional teams and collaborate with diverse internal stakeholders to build consensus around marketing strategies.
  • Adaptability and resilience required to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities, tight deadlines, and navigating changes and challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to work independently with minimal supervision and with a high degree of self-motivation in a remote environment.
  • Extensive experience with Adobe suite of products highly preferred. Experience with other marketing platforms will be beneficial.
