Role: Product Marketing Manager, Competitive Intelligence

Job Overview:
We’re seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Competitive Intelligence (CI) Lead to own and scale our competitive insights function. This is a global role that spans across many industries and at least two product categories.
Reporting to the Director of Product Marketing, you will drive cross-functional visibility into market dynamics, deliver actionable intelligence on competitors, and help shape strategic decisions across marketing, sales, product, and leadership teams. This is a high-impact role ideal for someone with a mix of analytical thinking, business acumen, and strong communication skills. The strongest candidates excel at research, strategy, and sales collaboration, delivering market insights and equipping customer-facing teams with the competitive knowledge win in the market. Success in this role looks like clear, consistent delivery of insights that shape product strategy, increase win rates in competitive deals, and build organizational confidence in our market positioning
What You’ll Be Doing:
Market & Competitor Monitoring
- Continuously track and analyze competitor activity, product launches, pricing changes, go-to-market strategies, messaging, and partnerships.
- Partner with sales, solutions, and customer success teams to gather frontline insights to build, maintain, and evolve a competitor database.
- Monitor market movements, industry trends, new entrants, and adjacent market activity.
- As a member of the product marketing team, collaborate on messaging evolution and market positioning to ensure differentiation.
- Work closely with product and marketing teams to ensure insights inform roadmap direction and go-to-market strategies.
Enablement & Sales Support
- Supply sales enablement with competitive intelligence and collaborate on the production of battlecards, objection handling scripts, and competitive talk tracks.
- Partner with enablement to train GTM teams on how to position against competitors.
- Attend and support key deal reviews where competitive dynamics are a factor.
Strategic Communication
- Package and present competitive insights to cross-functional stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Write regular reports and “CI briefs” to summarize key developments and strategic implications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with product management to influence roadmap and strategy based on competitive gaps and opportunities.
- Partner with customer success and support to identify churn risks or win/loss patterns linked to competition.
- Serve as the “voice of the competitor” in strategic planning, OKRs, and GTM reviews.
Tools and Processes
- Create, maintain, and deploy AI-driven CI tools and databases that are accessible to sales, product, marketing, etc.
- Provide insights to key stakeholders, including weekly CI briefs, monthly exec updates, quarterly landscape reviews).
- Ensure all materials are current, accessible, and used by GTM teams.
Customer Insights
- Conduct customer/prospect interviews and analyze third-party reports to validate market perceptions of competitors
Win/Loss Analysis
- Own or support a win/loss analysis program (internally or via a third party).
- Identify competitive trends in pipeline progression, deal outcomes, and customer feedback.
Qualifications & Experience needed to be successful in this role:
Required
- While collaboration is in our DNA, and the role is part of the product marketing team, this is a one-person role. You must have the ability to set the strategy and the enthusiasm to roll up your sleeves execute the work. Self-starters who love autonomy, have a strategic mindset, and demonstrate operational excellence will be strong candidates.
- 3–6+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, product marketing, strategy, or sales enablement in B2B SaaS.
- Proven ability to analyze information, connect insights, and generate strategic recommendations.
- Experience synthesizing information and creating presentations or strategic briefs tailored for different audiences.
- Strong communicator comfortable presenting to both individual contributors and senior leaders.
- Comfortable speaking with customers, building relationships, and influencing cross-functional teams, especially customer-facing stakeholders.
- Highly organized with a bias for action and iteration.
- Experience measuring impact of CI programs (e.g., win-rate improvement, enablement adoption, exec usage of CI briefs)
Preferred
- Background in management consulting, strategy, or analyst roles.
- Experience conducting interviews for win/loss or churn research.
- Experience with B2B marketing software.
Skills And Competencies
- Experience using AI as a tool to collect and distribute competitive intelligence.
- Ability to think creatively and experiment with how AI technology can evolve this function.
- Strong storytelling and packaging skills — able to distill research into actionable, concise insights for different audiences (sales, product, execs)
