Location: Remote, available from anywhere within the U.S.

Travel: Up to 10% for team meetings and conferences as needed.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Senior Director of Marketing to join K12 Coalition’s central Marketing team. In this role, you will drive customer acquisition, retention, and digital experience optimization in support of our mission to provide impactful resources for educators.

As part of the corporate marketing function, you will collaborate across divisions while serving as the senior leader accountable for marketing strategy and execution in a defined business line. You will oversee acquisition campaigns, retention initiatives, and website optimization efforts, managing both internal teams and agency partners to deliver measurable growth. This position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and will lead a team of managers and specialists dedicated to driving marketing outcomes.

What You’ll Do

Customer Acquisition & Growth

  • Develop and execute a multi-channel acquisition strategy that includes paid media, social, referral programs, and emerging channels.
  • Identify, test, and scale new traffic sources that expand our divisions’ market reach.
  • Build and optimize the acquisition funnel from awareness to conversion, ensuring efficiency and quality at every stage.

Retention & Lifecycle Marketing

  • Lead the retention marketing team to improve customer renewals, lifetime value, and overall satisfaction.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align marketing with product roadmaps, customer success insights, and sales initiatives.

Website & Digital Experience Optimization

  • Oversee the website optimization team to enhance conversion rates, user experience, and engagement.
  • Drive continuous testing and improvements across the website to strengthen its role as a primary sales and engagement channel.

Agency & Vendor Management

  • Manage agency partners executing paid media, social, search, and programmatic campaigns.
  • Hold agencies accountable for KPIs, ROI, and alignment with brand and division goals.

Budget & Reporting

  • Develop and manage the annual marketing budget across acquisition, retention, and optimization functions.
  • Monitor pacing, provide regular performance reports, and make strategic adjustments to maximize ROI.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing marketing team.
  • Establish clear goals, KPIs, and development plans while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Other Duties

  • Support the team with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to help meet evolving organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role; experience in SaaS, subscription services, or education technology strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in customer acquisition and lifecycle marketing, including identifying and scaling new channels.
  • Strong knowledge of website optimization, performance marketing, and analytics tools (Google Analytics, CRM, attribution software, etc.).
  • Proven ability to manage media agency relationships, budgets, and ROI.
  • Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, with a track record of developing and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience in data-driven decision making.

Success Measures

Success in this role will be demonstrated by:

  • Growth in new customer acquisition volume and efficiency (CAC, CPA).
  • Identification and successful scaling of new traffic and acquisition channels.
  • Improvement in customer retention and customer lifetime value (CLV).
  • Increased website conversion rates and user engagement.
  • Positive ROI on paid media and agency-managed campaigns.
  • High engagement, development, and performance within the marketing team.

Compensation Range

The compensation range for this position is $150,000 – $170,000

As part of our commitment to pay equity, new hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the salary band minimum and the salary band midpoint, depending on qualifications, location, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.
