About The Role

Betterment is seeking an experienced B2B marketer to lead the demand- and pipeline-generation marketing efforts that support our 401(k) sales organization.


Reporting into the VP of Growth Marketing, the Senior Marketing Manager will both lead and execute on growth strategies for Betterment’s 401(k) line of business, Betterment at Work. As a full-stack, hands-on B2B marketer with experience growing disruptive, tech-forward SaaS solutions, you thrive on broad responsibility, driving strategy, executing tactics, and partnering with your stellar sales leader counterparts. This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we’ve reflected the base salary range we would offer for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.

  • New York City: $135,000-$155,000

This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of a company incentive bonus. For jobs based out of our NYC HQ, we require in office attendance Monday through Thursday, weekly.

A day in the life

  • Manage a team of three growth marketers working across channels to deliver sales pipeline
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies through lead generation, qualification, and nurture campaigns across multiple audience targets and lifecycle stages
  • Plan, orchestrate, and optimize marketing automation efforts across digital marketing, paid social, content, and email channels
  • Analyze and assess efficacy/ROI of media spend and resourcing
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and resourcefully to get things done across sales, sales development, enablement, event production, product, and product marketing

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years experience in B2B marketing, including MQL and SQL practices
  • 6+ years experience with marketing automation and CRM for lead generation and nurture (Hubspot and Salesforce expertise a huge plus!)
  • 3+ years experience managing direct reports
  • Highly experienced with digital advertising, email marketing, and event sponsorship tactics
  • Experience managing a P&L: budget planning, performance reporting, etc
  • Experience working with 401(k), financial services technology, or other regulated industries a plus
