The Senior Solutions Marketing Manager – Financial Close is responsible for supporting the Financial Close pillar and GTM strategy by leading and executing BlackLine’s solutions marketing strategy and activities. This person will craft messaging and positioning that aligns to customer challenges and demonstrates urgency, value, and differentiation of BlackLine financial close solutions from competitors. This person will partner with the financial close pillar executive leadership team to identify and document compelling use cases, establish joint content plans, and execute against them.
The Senior Solutions Marketing Manager – Financial Close interacts with other BlackLine teams including pillar and operating model leadership, Corporate & Brand Marketing, Field Marketing, Sales, Customer Team, and Product Management, among others, to ensure that marketing content accurately reflects buyer perspectives and priorities. This person also engages with other solutions marketing leaders to strategize across solution pillars and drive consistency in our messaging.
The Senior Solutions Marketing Manager will use domain expertise to establish marketing themes and a content plan that combines in-depth understanding of the market and BlackLine’s financial close offerings. He or she will deliver and present key messages as a speaker at events like BeyondTheBlack and other trade shows, as well as on webinars. This individual will also present to and serve as a key resource for BlackLine colleagues and partners as part of enablement and other training activities. This individual is a critical part of the marketing team’s alignment to our strategy and operating model.
You’ll Get To:
Own and craft clear and compelling product and solution messaging and positioning for BlackLine Financial Close offerings, which represents the largest and most mature business at BlackLine. This includes Account Reconciliations, Task Management, Journal Entry, and Transaction Matching.
- Lead content creation (brochures, fact sheets, white papers, presentations, infographics, research, website text etc.) for a variety of audiences and target segments highlighting BlackLine strengths, features, and benefits and align to strategy and operating model focus areas.
- Lead messaging for marquee events, field events, webinars, and other activities and serve as a solution expert. Evangelize the message with both speaking and print opportunities.
- Author strategic messaging for sales, partners, customers team, and business development teams.
- Actively promote BlackLine product and value proposition within BlackLine and partner organizations
- Drive the development of Financial Close customer success stories and build relationships with customers in order to identify use cases, themes, and event speakers
- Collaborate with financial close pillar leadership to identify priority industries and document industry-specific content including solution briefs, use cases, demo videos, and other supporting sales assets.
- Lead all relevant product marketing efforts, including content creation, product expertise, understanding of the space, and product roadmap.
- Drive financial close business by actively participating in sales cycles as a SME with domain expertise
- Lead and ensure effective and timely communications on relevant announcements, programs, and performance – with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis in order to recommend positioning and programs to reach new customers
- Develop a thorough understanding of BlackLine’s applications, markets, competitors, and client/user needs
- Partner with product management and make recommendations to ensure that product development and support include proper marketing positioning in all communication of launches and releases
- Keep abreast of new features and enhancements to the product roadmap
- Provide specialized support for relevant regions and industries as dictated by the strategy and operating model
- Remain current on F&A trends and issues as and use expertise to recommend content themes, create assets, and review thought leadership.

What You’ll Bring:
Years of Experience in Related Field: 10+
Education: Master’s degree in accounting or finance preferred, minimum bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance related field.
Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Technical acumen – an ability to deliver cohesive presentations that highlight technical skills with accounting end-user functions.
- Experience working, communicating and collaborating with C-Level executives and senior finance professionals including CFOs, VPs of Finance, Controllers, and others in the finance department
- Understanding and experience with financial close processes, leadership experience preferred
- Product or solutions marketing experience strongly preferred
Other:
- Strong written communication skills and experience in creating product messaging for a variety of target audiences
- Ability to work well cross-functionally, rapidly gain an understanding of financial applications, manage multiple projects with changing priorities, and initiate and complete projects with minimal guidance
- Keen business sense, with the ability to find creative business-oriented solutions to customer problems
- Proven experience drafting, negotiating and finalizing a variety of client-facing materials
- Proven success working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong results orientation with a dedicated client focus
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines, prioritize workflow and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations
- Ability to work independently while also being a strong collaborator
