Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder is looking for a part-time, in-person Social Media Content Associate for the 2025-2026 NBA season. In this role, you will focus on copywriting and publishing for official social media channels, as well as creating engaging photo and video content that captures the energy of game nights, practices, and events. Availability for most game nights is required. You will also support content production and collaborate across departments to help bring media strategies to life. In this role you will:
- Help post content, gather video and photo content at Thunder home games and other Thunder-related functions for Thunder social media channels, including Facebook, X, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, and Instagram
- Pitch and develop creative media ideas for Thunder content channels
- Help with any pre- and post-production video and photo editing during Thunder game nights
- Support the growth and engagement of Thunder social media across all platforms, including accounts for entertainers and community page
- Monitor activity across all social media platforms
- Compile analytics and create regular reports to keep the organization and partners informed of social media impact and insights
- Assist the social media department with communications and collaboration on campaigns and deliverables
- Stay up to speed on media trends, current news, and popular culture
- Assist in creating social media content using graphics and video editing tools, including mobile-specific apps and platforms
- Build a strong understanding of the Thunder culture and Oklahoma City, acting as a brand ambassador and strategy specialist for entertainment groups such as the Thunder Girls, Rumble, and Thunder Drummers
- Identify opportunities to showcase the Thunder brand and develop effective, measurable social media outreach programs, including global audiences and co-branded or sponsored content
- Support paid advertising campaigns and organize related elements
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you bring to the role:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- A digital portfolio with social media, writing and/or photography samples will be required upon job submission
- Dependable and available to commit to Thunder home games and select road games
- Familiarity and experience with shooting photo and video on digital single-lens reflex cameras, with an emphasis on vertical content creation and editing for mobile platforms. Previous experience shooting sporting events is a plus
- Photography and social publishing experience is a plus
- Self-starter who also enjoys team environment collaboration
- Highly motivated, positive attitude, and ability to present yourself with professionalism
- Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, active listening, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality
- Proficient working with all social platforms, including analytics and monitoring, and skilled in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Photoshop, and video/graphic editing tools
Additional details:
The position is based at the Thunder corporate office located at the Paycom Center in downtown Oklahoma City. The work schedule will include 20-29 hours per week and may include evening and/or weekend hours, covering OKC Thunder games and community events in Oklahoma City. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are needed as some local travel is required. Working environment will include both inside and outside events that may include loud noise or music, flashing lights, and inclement weather. This is an on-site, part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Manager, Social Media.
