To mock Donald Trump’s perennial interest in buying Greenland from Denmark in the name of national security, Danes created a satirical website called denmarkification.com.
It features the tagline “Måke Califørnia Great Ægain” and invites people to sign a petition to buy California from Donald Trump.
Here are the reasons why Denmark wants California:

5. California grows 90% of U.S. avocados—and Denmark is short on avocados
6. To protect the free world
7. Disneyland would become Hans Christian Andersenland, with Mickey Mouse wearing a Viking helmet
And here’s why, according to the site, Donald Trump might sell California: He has called it the most ruined state in the Union and has feuded with many of its leaders. So there’s a huge chance he would trade it for a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.
They even proposed a crowdfunding plan to raise $1 trillion (give or take a few billion). To reach that goal, every Dane would need to contribute 200,000 kroner and they suggest skipping a few lattes to make it happen.
It doesn’t stop there: They promise to send their greatest negotiators – Lego executives and the cast of Borgen (the Danish political drama) to close the deal.
Out of “national interest” in promoting Danish heritage, they want to turn California into New Denmark and Los Angeles into Løs Ångeles.
They would bring Danish values to Califørnia: hygge in Hollywood, organic smørrebrød on every street corner, universal healthcare, rule of law, and fact-based politics.
